Hey everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, if that is something you celebrate. As for myself, I do celebrate it and did have a beautiful day with friends and family. I love having a house full of people and bustle and laughter. We ate far too much, played games and watched a couple of Christmas short movies, one of which was the super-cute Madagascar penguins Christmas Caper.
Trying to get a bit of work done today, since I’ll be gone for most of the week on our New Year’s ski vacation. I cannot wait, I just looked at the ski conditions where we’re headed, and the forecast is for snow every single day. Whee! Far cry from last year, when we were there skiing in drizzle.
My daughters are going to learn snowboarding this year, which I’m really looking forward to. I learned how to ski when I was their age. The school I attended in 7th and 8th grade let out early every Friday in winter for ski school. The choice at the time was either to take the bus with classmates and learn, or sit in the smelly gym for the afternoon until the regular bus could take us home. Naturally, pretty much everyone who could went up skiing. I have adult friends who don’t ski and are afraid to try to learn, so I’m grateful that I had the opportunity when I was young enough to not worry about trying new things. So far 2 out of 3 of my girls are excited about it, the other is grudgingly going to give it a try. If they all like it (fingers crossed) then we’ll have another family thing we can do together. As for this coming trip, they are with their dad so it’s just me and Elliott. He’s a great skier, but he doesn’t mind slowing down just a bit to let me keep up. :)
Anyhow, just wanted to pop in to wish you all a very happy New Year! I’ll have a laptop with me, so hey I might even update a bit while I’m gone.
