January 29th

Well, a couple of happy things have happened today in amongst a general sense of lethargic malaise.

I was up about 9 this morning, for about 18 seconds - the length of time it took me to get across the room to turn off a demonic alarm clock and go back to bed. I finally fought through the torpor to get my ass over to Group Health around 3pm. I talked my way into an "I'll sit here and wait" appointment, and sure enough the doc told me it was a combination of the flu and bronchitis. I made an appointment for a couple weeks from now for a complete physical, and picked some antibiotics from the pharmacy. Total time invested, 2-3 hours.

Time enough to read a book that the fine folks at Greenery Press gave me a copy of, Health Care Without Shame by Dr Charles Moser. It should be mandatory reading in every school of medicine, nursing, dentistry, podiatry, or any other health care providing trade. Excellent book, well written, easy to read, written with sections for consumers and for providers, and doesn't talk down to either group. The questions this book answers come up every couple of months on every alternative sexuality mailing list or bulletin board I've ever been on. In my personal opinionated opinion, this book should be in the home library of every person with a sexuality outside the norms of Ozzie & Nelson. Moreover, it should be mandatory reading in every school of medicine, nursing, dentistry, podiatry, or any other health care providing trade.

The other little bright point? Having fun this afternoon with friends, trading back and forth old treasured url's via ICQ notes from our "Just For Fun" favorites files. My latest fun one to waste a few minutes with just came in email from my ex wife. And so it goes. For now, life - and amoxicillin - is good. And Fisherman's Friend is my new friend.
